Purpose:
Responsible for the overall development and implementation of mechanical capital and engineering projects in Thailand. Drives strategic business cases to ensure equipment and technology are fit for purpose and aligned with market needs. Establishes and maintains Mechanical Engineering standards across ASEAN projects, ensuring consistency and best practices. Continuously reviews the capital portfolio and leads the development of the mechanical engineering talent pipeline in Thailand.
Job Description
- Develop both basic and detailed equipment specifications, including performing mechanical design calculations.
- Review and prepare machine designs to meet equipment requirements, including material selection and validation through finite element analysis (FEA).
- Conduct equipment load and stress analysis to ensure structural integrity and performance.
- Provide mechanical engineering input throughout the design phase, project execution, and commissioning processes.
- Govern and uphold mechanical engineering standards across projects and operations.
- Drive mechanical equipment strategies and standardization efforts across the ASEAN region to enhance scalability and optimize resource utilization.
- Support project management and successful delivery from a mechanical engineering standpoint.
- Ensure all OEM equipment and engineering practices comply with mechanical standards and assist local teams in adhering to country-specific regulations.
- Manage engineering resources, including building in-country capabilities and technical competencies.
- Oversee the full talent lifecycle for the mechanical engineering skill pool, including recruitment, development, and retention.
- Promote a zero-harm safety culture through safe systems of work and constructability-focused designs, including conducting construction risk assessments and CHAIR reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
- 7+ years’ experience in mechanical design and engineering, specializing in equipment design, analysis, and manufacturing for the heavy metal industry, including Cold Rolling Mills, Strip Processing Lines, Color Paint Lines, and Furnaces.
- Skilled in system design and upgrades for piping, thermal, hydraulic systems, bearing selection, machine and material design, roll grinding, rotating machinery, gearboxes, and transmissions
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, 3D design, SolidWorks, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Proven leadership in driving change within global, multicultural teams
- Effective facilitator and coach
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation – for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Good command in English
