Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy & Sourcing

  • Develop and execute category strategies based on customer insights, market trends, and performance analysis.
  • Lead strategic sourcing activities including supplier research, category segmentation, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
  • Translate consumer and market data into effective assortment, pricing, merchandising, and promotional plans.
  • Ensure product specifications and food safety standards are met across all suppliers.

Sales, Profit & Performance Management

  • Monitor sales, margin, and other income against daily, monthly, and annual targets by category and store.
  • Lead annual budgeting and ongoing performance reviews (MTD/YTD).
  • Prepare and analyze business reports covering sales, margin, supplier performance, and market comparisons.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through sourcing optimization and process improvement.

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
  • Manage annual trading agreements to ensure optimal commercial terms without compromising quality or service.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, risks, and opportunities; develop long-term partnerships with key vendors.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to support business growth and innovation.
  • Conduct supplier visits and factory audits to understand capabilities and industry developments.

Assortment, Pricing & Inventory Management

  • Lead pricing and cost negotiations to achieve target margins and competitive positioning.
  • Manage assortment planning including new product selection, delisting, and performance reviews.
  • Oversee SKU and stock management to ensure availability and efficient inventory flow.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to ensure timely product delivery.

Promotion Management

  • Plan and execute promotional activities aligned with category objectives.
  • Conduct post-promotion analysis to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Science, Culinary, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in retail food, FMCG, wholesale, or consumer goods industries.
  • 5–7 years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management.
  • Proven experience managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and retail operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior suppliers, manufacturers, and retail partners.
