Job Summary
The Material Planning & Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the end-to-end material planning, inventory, warehouse, and logistics operations to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time delivery to customers.
This position will lead the planning and logistics team, coordinate closely with Production, Purchasing, Suppliers, Quality, and Customer Service teams, and ensure that materials are available in the right quantity and at the right time while maintaining optimal inventory levels and controlling logistics costs.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in material planning, supply chain, logistics, and inventory management within the automotive manufacturing industry, with proven leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Material Planning, Warehouse, and Logistics operations.
- Develop and manage material planning strategies based on production schedules, customer demand, and inventory requirements.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and packaging materials to support production.
- Monitor MRP / ERP systems, production requirements, inventory levels, and material shortages.
- Manage inventory levels and improve inventory accuracy while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
- Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and take corrective actions for shortages or delays.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics activities, including transportation and delivery planning.
- Ensure customer deliveries are made on time and in full (OTIF).
- Optimize warehouse operations, material flow, storage, and inventory control.
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to inventory, material availability, delivery performance, logistics costs, and warehouse efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve supply chain processes and reduce operational and logistics costs.
- Lead and develop the Material Planning & Logistics team.
- Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Sales/Customer teams to resolve supply chain issues.
- Support new product launches, production changes, and customer requirements from a material and logistics perspective.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety requirements, and automotive industry requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of experience in material planning, logistics, supply chain, or related functions.
- At least 3–5 years in a management or leadership position.
- Strong experience in automotive manufacturing / Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive suppliers is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory management, production planning, warehouse, and logistics operations.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of supplier management and customer delivery requirements.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
