The Safety and Environment Manager is responsible for ensuring that all operations comply with occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, particularly in accordance with food industry standards. This role ensures a safe workplace, promotes sustainable practices, and leads incident prevention and compliance efforts within the food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental policies and procedures according to local laws and food industry standards (e.g. GMP, HACCP, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses (JSAs) specific to food production processes.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations such as waste disposal, wastewater treatment, and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Lead safety training programs and emergency drills for all levels of staff, including hygiene and sanitation-related safety.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate audits and inspections by regulatory authorities and certification bodies.
- Promote and lead a culture of safety awareness across the organization.
- Manage records and reporting systems related to safety and environment (e.g. incident logs, safety KPIs, environmental impact reports).
- Collaborate with production, QA/QC, and engineering teams to maintain safe and sustainable operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE management within the food manufacturing industry is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of local labor and environmental laws and international standards relevant to food safety (e.g. HACCP, GMP).
- Certification in Safety Officer (จป. วิชาชีพ), ISO 14001, ISO 45001 is preferred.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Able to work under pressure and solve problems effectively.
- Licensed Specialist in Hazardous Substances (Bor Chor)
- Experience with SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) system is an advantage.
- Able to communicate confidently in English, with strong presentation and communication skills relevant to areas of responsibility.
