Job Description

Position Overview:

The Supplier Quality Development Engineer will be responsible for the quality performance of external direct materials and services suppliers assigned to them. The position involves qualification of new suppliers, applying APQP methodology, and driving continuous improvement efforts to ensure supplier growth and quality excellence. Additionally, the role will require supporting the plants in resolving quality issues and implementing corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Purchasing GCF in scouting and pre-selecting suppliers, contributing to the purchasing and global sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure proper implementation of new product and process development at the supplier’s premises through APQP methodology.
  • Conduct performance analysis for assigned suppliers, defining improvement plans and applying best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide support to Plant Quality for critical issue resolution and escalation when necessary.
  • Perform on-site process audits to ensure compliance with the supplier's quality management system.
  • Monitor supplier quality indicators and generate global dashboards.

 

·  Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field. A Master's degree or specialized certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, APQP) would be an advantage.

·  Professional Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality management, quality engineering, or related fields within the automotive industry. Experience in implementing APQP methodology and driving supplier improvements is preferred.

·  Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO/TS 16949, IATF 16949) and industry standards.
  • Experience with process audits, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
  • Familiarity with product and process qualification tools (e.g., FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to utilize quality metrics and dashboards.

·  Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

·  Language Skills:
Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in Thai considered a plus.

·  Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel as needed to visit supplier sites and plant locations.
