Job Description

  • Oversee operations and customer service for ocean freight activities.
  • Conduct market analysis and compile country-specific statistics related to ocean freight.
  • Stay informed about key industry verticals to support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Monitor trade performance for each service contract.
  • Analyze profit and loss trends for the country’s ocean freight operations.
  • Assist in negotiating local contracts with carriers.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Sales (M&S) teams on major trade lanes, coordinating with regional and global subsidiaries.
  • Identify potential sales opportunities and growth targets for ocean trade.
  • Work closely with the sales team to maintain and implement customer strategies at the country level.
  • Contribute to establishing budget guidelines for ocean freight operations.
  • Support operational teams with market insights and rate trends.
  • Ensure accurate billing and job costing for ocean freight operations.
  • Coordinate with international partners to develop products that meet budget objectives.
  • Track and optimize carrier allocation performance.
  • Adhere to compliance policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Mitigate risks by securing favorable buying rates to maintain profitability.
  • Use various methods to anticipate and manage fluctuations in bunker costs and market rates.
  • Oversee operational outcomes for ocean freight, including fleet strategy, trade design, container services, and network management.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the country, with a focus on intraregional trade, and implement customized solutions.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Business, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a global freight forwarder company
  • Strong business acumen with expertise in ocean freight operations.
  • Proven experience collaborating with domestic and international partners/carriers, effectively managing large-scale fleets while minimizing landed costs.
  • Skilled in negotiating complex, high-value freight contracts with global carriers and service providers.
  • Demonstrated success in managing P&L for international import/export ocean freight operations.
  • Strong marketing and sales capabilities with a background in business development.
  • Advanced proficiency in English
